Summerville, S.C. – SCRA is proud to announce the appointment of Christine Dixon Thiesing as the Director of Academic Programs. Ms. Dixon Thiesing joined SCRA in February as the Life Sciences Industry Manager where she worked to address the needs of the life science industry by identifying and advancing technology-based solutions. Prior to SCRA, she was the Associate Director of Technology Development for MUSC Foundation for Research Development. As the Associate Director, she identified resources for the maturation of medical technologies and supported more than twenty startup companies. In addition, she recently co-founded PriMed, an accelerator dedicated to providing a business foundation for medical device startups.

As the Director of Academic Programs, her focus will be to coordinate translational research across South Carolina’s academic institutions to enhance funding opportunities. The role will also entail developing centers of excellence founded upon expertise and resources located throughout the state. Ms. Dixon Thiesing will be assuming the new role on July 1st, upon the retirement of Ambrose Schwallie, who has held several executive positons at SCRA over the past eight years.

“Christine has proven to be a great addition to SCRA. Her unique expertise and experience is the perfect combination for her new role,” said SCRA Executive Director Bob Quinn.
