To achieve these goals, we have created two solicitations with separate eligibility requirements.

Up to $860,000
To advance the development of university-owned technologies that can provide lasting economic and societal impact. Eligible Institutions include Clemson University, the University of South Carolina, and the Medical University of South Carolina.
University of South Carolina
SCRA awarded the University of South Carolina $860,000. USC has $290,000 in matching funds for a total of one million dollars in funding to develop a more cost-effective way to synthesize compounds that show promise for treating neurodegenerative diseases.

SCRA awarded Clemson University $860,000. Clemson has $170,000 in matching funds for a total of one million dollars in funding to develop a highly compacted hydrogen fuel cell prototype that is longer lasting and more energy efficient than what is currently available.

SCRA awarded the Medical University of South Carolina $870,000. MUSC has $397,000 in matching funds for a total of over one million dollars to bring three innovations into the marketplace. They include a recombinant protein cancer vaccine, an antibiotic-eluting implant device, and a burn wound gel.

Up to $640,000
To establish the infrastructure and capacity necessary for growth in use-inspired R&D at the institution, providing the foundation for future economic and social impacts. Eligible institutions include all public institutions of higher education not included in Track One above.
Coastal Carolina University
SCRA awarded Coastal Carolina University $640,000. CCU has $220,000 in matching funds for a total of $860,000 to bring biomedical and kinesiology research to to expand its capacity for developing new technologies across the institution, particularly in biomedical and kinesiology research.

SCRA awarded the College of Charleston $640,000. CofC has $84,000 in matching funds for a total of $720,000 to expand its capacity for technology development and commercialization at the institution. The initial research focus will be on delivering solutions in the critical area of global logistics. The project will focus on increased faculty research, innovation, and impactful public-private partnerships with interdisciplinary teams from the School of Mathematics and Engineering and the School of Business.
