Summerville, S.C.—South Carolina Research Authority (SCRA) announces four SC Launch Client Companies recently have been awarded grants for a combined total of $175,000.
Competitor Tent is a unique, new mobile app aimed at providing competitive equestrians training and competition results and analytics across the disciplines of Dressage, Eventing, Jumpers, and Show Hunters. It provides analytics around the products that competitors use and trust, bridging the gap between consumers and brands. The Aiken-based company received an SCRA Project Development Fund (PDF) $25,000 grant. PDF grants are awarded to SC Launch Client Companies that are not affiliated with an academic institution to assist a startup in achieving critical milestones to commercialization that will allow them to pursue investment capital.
Three other companies have received SCRA’s Acceleration Grants. These grants are competitively awarded to South Carolina-based, for-profit companies to progress the company towards commercialization and better position the company for an investment through SCRA’s investment affiliate, SC Launch, Inc.
Hank AI is a cognitive automation platform that combines traditional machine learning with crowdsourced knowledge to automate repetitive decision-making tasks. Hank AI helps medical coders increase their productivity and accuracy by providing an easy to use interface for manual keyword searches against their database of medical codes (free) and transforming free text medical records into a list of the most probable codes (trainer or paid). The Columbia-based company received a $50,000 grant. This grant was made possible by Industry Partnership Fund contributors like BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.
Lien Nation is a provider of an online platform intended to identify and purchase real property at tax lien auctions. The company’s platform transforms raw data into actionable information by leveraging the taxable value, discovering property zoning insights, comparing property square footage and more, enabling companies to recover unpaid taxes while providing attractive returns for investors. The Greenville company received a $50,000 grant.
Reporting Xpress is a cloud based online reporting distribution solution that integrates with Blackbaud’s cloud based Financial Edge NXT and Raiser’s Edge. Reporting Xpress empowers non-financial departmental users to easily obtain essential information when they need it, without taxing financial department resources. The result is improved customer service to those departmental users and greater efficiencies in the financial organization. The Cayce company received a $50,000 grant.
SCRA is a state-chartered organization that fuels job creation and grows South Carolina’s innovation economy. Through SCRA’s SC Launch and SC Academic Innovations programs, early-stage companies are provided mentoring and grants and may be eligible for an investment from SCRA’s investment affiliate, SC Launch, Inc.
