SCRA Announces New Member Benefits Program

| News Releases

Summerville, SC—South Carolina Research Authority proudly unveils an exclusive member benefits program tailored for its esteemed Member Companies and SC Launch Inc. Portfolio Companies. SC Launch Inc. is SCRA’s investment affiliate. SCRA Alliance Partners are providing many of the services, and some are being provided directly by SCRA, such as member benefit lease rates for space in SCRA facilities. For example, several spaces in SCRA’s MUSC Innovation Center are available at these special rates.

Other member benefits include discounted services that startups need to sustain and grow their businesses, such as health insurance, banking, cloud services, cyber security insurance, and legal advice. Director of SCRA’s Launch Program, Lee MacIlwinen, said, “We want to ensure these new member benefits meet the needs of our companies, so we have engaged with leading service companies like AmazonAirCFOBrexCarta, and HubSpot, to name a few, to offer online services with the utmost convenience.” MacIlwinen added, “For services that work best with a strong personal relationship and individual planning, we built partnerships with Ameris BankBuild Carolina, InsperityHUB International, Nelson Mullins, and Tech CXO, where founders can schedule time to meet with their own respective support services teams.”

“Figuring out health insurance options for business owners, their families, and employees can be daunting. We are excited to partner with SCRA to ease this burden. Startup companies will benefit from pooled or group prices that are more affordable than buying policies directly from insurance companies,” said HUB International Employee Benefits Advisor Calvin Beamon. “We’re here to make the process easier and help startups save money and choose the best plans for their situations,” said Insperity Certified Business Performance Advisor Meghan Fleming.

“We provide emerging companies with the sound and pragmatic legal advice necessary to navigate the startup ecosystem.  As one of the more active practice groups for emerging companies in the country, our attorneys and business professionals have considerable experience advising companies on capital raise transactions, commercial agreements, M&A transactions, and other corporate matters,” said Nelson Mullins Partner Mason Hogue. “We look forward to supporting the startups SCRA serves to help them continue their growth.”

“Since 1983, we’ve provided support and funding to help startups grow and create higher-paying jobs in South Carolina. This new member benefits program provides the perfect set of wrap-around services to supplement that support and funding,” said SCRA President and CEO Bob Quinn.

SCRA Member Companies and SC Launch Inc. Portfolio Companies can explore the member benefits program online and begin using them within the secure portal.
